Terms and conditions

Using our services, managing school access and understanding your school’s agreement.

1. About these terms

These terms describe use of the Writing Boost website, Writing Boost and Spelling Boost services, and classroom resources provided by Letts Learn Pty Ltd (ABN 77 683 713 028), trading as Writing Boost, Queensland, Australia.

A school or organisation’s accepted written proposal, order or service agreement sets its subscription and commercial arrangements. These terms apply alongside that agreement; specifically agreed terms take priority if there is a conflict, subject to rights that cannot be excluded by law. An individual teacher or student does not personally take on the school’s payment obligations merely by accessing a school account.

Our Privacy policy explains information handling, including student data, AI processing, overseas supporting services and website activity. The Privacy & trust page provides a summary.

2. School accounts and responsibilities

School subscriptions are arranged by an authorised representative. The school manages authorised staff and student access, supplies accurate account and class information, and obtains the notices, permissions and consents required for sharing student information and using the selected features.

Use only accounts you are authorised to access, keep credentials secure and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access. Schools should keep permissions current when staff or students leave or change roles. Students use the service under their school’s supervision and instructions.

3. Proposals, fees and subscription arrangements

An online estimate helps a school explore pricing. Requesting, saving, downloading or receiving a proposal does not itself purchase a subscription or authorise a charge. An authorised school representative must agree the order with us.

The accepted proposal or service agreement records the products, participating students or year levels, subscription period, price, GST treatment, payment schedule and any trial or implementation arrangements. Amounts are in Australian dollars unless the proposal states otherwise. Please check the proposal’s validity date and inclusions before accepting.

Renewal, changes to enrolments or products, cancellation and any refunds are governed by the accepted agreement and applicable law. These website terms do not introduce automatic renewal, cancellation charges or a fixed notice period. Contact us to confirm those arrangements before ordering or changing a subscription.

4. Using the service responsibly

Use the service and resources for lawful educational and related administrative purposes within the access provided to you. Do not:

  • access another person’s account or school records without authority, share credentials inappropriately, or try to bypass access or security controls;
  • upload unlawful material, malicious code, or content that infringes another person’s rights;
  • harass others, disrupt the service, or use automated activity that unreasonably burdens it;
  • resell access or redistribute our resource library commercially without permission.

Keep unnecessary personal or sensitive information out of prompts and support requests. In particular, teacher image-generation prompts may be processed overseas as described in the privacy policy.

5. AI, feedback and educational judgement

Writing Boost supports teaching and learning with writing feedback, practice activities and progress information. AI outputs can be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for a particular student. Teachers should review feedback, scores and generated materials and apply their professional judgement before relying on them.

Practice scores and feedback are not official NAPLAN results and do not guarantee an assessment score or learning outcome. Students remain responsible for their own writing. Schools can choose whether AI features are enabled.

Student personal information is stored in Australia. AI processing of student writing, marking and feedback takes place in Australia. Teacher-generated stimulus images use a separate service with overseas processing. See the processing details in our privacy policy before entering image prompts.

6. Your content and our materials

Students, schools and other rights holders retain their rights in content they submit. You authorise us to host, process and display that content as needed to provide and support the service for your school, subject to the privacy policy and school agreement. This does not give us ownership of student work or a right to sell it.

Our software, branding and original teaching materials remain owned by us or the relevant licensors. Downloadable classroom resources may be used, printed and shared with students for teaching within your school, subject to any licence stated on the resource. Retain attribution and copyright notices. Ask us before commercial republication, resale or redistribution of the library.

You must have the authority and permissions needed for materials you submit. Third-party materials remain subject to their own rights and licences.

7. Availability, support and changes

We maintain and improve the service, but interruptions may occur because of maintenance, network problems or provider outages. Specific support or availability commitments apply where recorded in your school agreement. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access through these website terms.

Contact support with the affected feature and a description of the issue, avoiding unnecessary student details. We will communicate material service changes that affect an agreed subscription and discuss their impact with the school.

8. Restricted access and ending a subscription

We may restrict affected access where reasonably necessary to protect students, information or service security, comply with law, or address a material breach of these terms or the school agreement. Where practical, we will explain the issue to the school and provide an opportunity to resolve it. Urgent protective action may be needed first.

Subscription expiry, termination and any financial consequences follow the school agreement and applicable law. The school can contact us about returning, exporting or deleting its data. Retention and deletion, including trial data and backups, are explained in the Privacy policy.

9. Your rights under Australian law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, remedy or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Any remedies, refunds or liability arrangements in a school agreement remain subject to those rights.

Contact us if the service does not meet an applicable guarantee or an agreed commitment so we can investigate and discuss the appropriate resolution.

10. Changes, questions and disputes

We may update these website terms and show the revision date above. Changes do not automatically rewrite an existing school agreement; changes to that agreement follow its variation process and applicable law. We will communicate material changes affecting the service to the relevant school contact.

Please raise questions or disputes with us first so we can investigate and try to resolve them. These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, subject to any mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights that apply to you.
