For education systems

Every school in your system, in one view

Set one writing task across your schools, under the same conditions, and read the results school by school and criterion by criterion. See which schools are taking part and where support is needed.

One task, every school

What System Leadership shows

  1. Which schools are taking part

See which schools are active, how many students are writing and where teachers are engaging, all in one System Leadership workspace.

  2. Schools side by side, fairly

The Spread and Mastery grid views set schools side by side on the same scale, criterion by criterion, within one year level and genre. There is no pooled school average, so a secondary college never outscores a primary school just because its students are older. Find shared needs for professional learning, and schools that need different support.

  3. See what changes over time

The Movement view shows how a cohort’s writing has changed since its first read, and which criteria are moving.

How it works

  1. 01

Agree on the question with a year level, genre and literacy focus for your next shared task.

  2. 02

Set the shared task with a prompt, school reach and dates.

  3. 03

Follow participation across schools. See handed-in work against expected submissions.

  4. 04

Target the support with evidence for school improvement conversations and focused professional learning.

  5. 05

Return for the next read to see what changed and set the next focus.

Across your schools

  • Shared writing tasks

Choose a prompt from the library or build your own system task. Select the schools, year levels and dates. System writing tasks use common conditions: one attempt, with paste and writing tools off.

  • Each school in context

The school directory shows each school’s participation in system tasks and its completed writing. A school’s criterion profile sets its system-task results beside the system’s.

  • Into a school’s workspace

Open a school’s workspace read-only to see its classes, tasks and student work. School teams keep their day-to-day teaching decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Who is System Leadership for?

Directors of literacy, lead literacy advisers and education teams working across state education systems, Catholic dioceses and other school networks. It brings shared task coordination and school-level evidence into a dedicated leadership workspace.

Can we start with selected schools or year levels?

System tasks let you choose the participating schools and year levels. Bring your proposed pilot or rollout scope to a demo so we can discuss the right starting point and support for your network. School plans include Writing Boost and Spelling Boost together; network arrangements can be discussed with our team.

What makes a system writing task a shared assessment?

A system leader sets the prompt, school reach, year levels and task window. Students write under common conditions: one attempt, with paste and writing tools off. Feedback becomes available once marking is complete. The system leader manages the shared prompt and dates.

How should we interpret the comparisons?

Read writing evidence within the same year level and genre, and keep the selected evidence source in view. The Mastery grid compares schools across criteria; Movement considers a cohort against its earlier writing. Wherever schools sit side by side there is no pooled school average or growth figure, because raw scores from different year levels are on different scales. Writing Boost results are indicative, not official NAPLAN scores. Use the evidence alongside professional judgement and school context.

Can system leaders see what is happening in a school?

Yes. Authorised system leaders can open a school’s read-only workspace and follow the evidence into classes, tasks and student work. The system aggregate view does not show student names. School teams continue to manage their own classroom work.

Does the system workspace also include spelling?

Yes. School plans include Writing Boost and Spelling Boost together. In System Leadership, leaders can coordinate shared spelling check-ins and explore school participation and spelling evidence. We can demonstrate both learning journeys and discuss your network’s rollout.

Can a demo cover our strategy, rollout and governance requirements?

Yes. Bring your literacy priorities, school network and intended rollout. We can focus the walkthrough on your decisions, then discuss pricing, implementation, privacy and access requirements with your team.
