Letts Learn Pty Ltd Queensland, Australia

Writing and spelling software for Australian schools, made in Queensland

Hello, and welcome!

We make Writing Boost so each student gets feedback on their own writing within minutes, and then another go.

They stay the authors. You keep the professional judgement.

The Letts Learn team

P.S. Bring your year levels and a current teaching priority, and book time with Scott.

Writing Boost marks student writing on the NAPLAN writing criteria and gives each student feedback on their own piece within minutes. It is made by Letts Learn, a Queensland business, for Australian schools.

Students write, read their feedback and redraft. Teachers get class evidence to plan explicit teaching in place of a pile of marking. School leaders see each year level, class beside class. Spelling Boost is included in the same school plan.

We give the people who lead writing more than a login. Free professional learning on the NAPLAN marking guide prepares a staff meeting, and the writing-data review helps a team choose a writing focus on a planning day. Every school plan includes guided onboarding: a first task agreed with your team around a clear learning focus, and a time to review it together.

Students stay the authors. Teachers keep the professional judgement.

More about your walkthrough

Bring your year levels and a current teaching priority. We can follow a piece from the original writing to feedback and revision, then explore the teacher and school views.

Our approach for each school role

  1. Feedback on their own piece, and another go.

Prompts, planning tools and feedback help students think about their writing. The ideas, words and decisions in the next draft belong to them. See what students get

  2. The marking done. The class in view.

Class evidence suggests possible teaching priorities. Teachers read the work, know their learners and choose how to respond. See what teachers get

  3. Every class marked on the same criteria.

Every class is marked on the same criteria, so teachers and leaders start from the same evidence when they moderate and plan what to teach. See what school leaders get

  • Keep students the authors

Prompts, planning tools and feedback help students think about their writing. The ideas, words and decisions in the next draft belong to them.

  • Teachers make the call

Class evidence suggests possible teaching priorities. Teachers read the work, know their learners and choose how to respond.

  • Practice as a routine

Writing and spelling practice is an ongoing routine: try, notice, revisit and apply it in the next task.

  • Consistency across classes

Every class is marked on the same criteria, so teachers and leaders start from the same evidence when they moderate and plan what to teach.
